As a single tier municipality, Chatham-Kent has many places which are worth visiting. Tourism is one of the industries of the area but the city is not famously known. There are 6 areas in total where the rural population of the municipality resides. The current form of Chatham-Kent came into being in 1998 when some areas of the Kent County were added to it. It is the 53rd largest county with respect to the population and it is highly recommended by the locals if quiet and peaceful vacations are to be spent. It is the 12th largest municipality with respect to area and the largest one in southwestern Ontario.

Casinos and Restaurants in Chatham-Kent

Even though Chatham-Kent is relatively unknown to tourists, you can still find entertainment such as casinos and restaurants. Although they are few in number, they still contribute to the overall development of the county.

The first place to look is Cascades Casino. It is basically the only land-based casino in Chatham-Kent. Situated on the south side of town, the Cascades Casino offers all the facilities and entertainment you could possibly want – over 300 slot machines and video poker terminals, 12 table games and keno. It is one of the most visited places in the area. Lake Erie is the fourth largest lake among the Great Lakes of North America. The best part of this lake is that it is situated on the international boundary of the USA and Canada. People from both sides make sure that they enjoy at this point to their fullest. It is also the 11th largest lake in the with respect to the surface area. The lake is closely associated with the Niagara River so there are many picnic spots which are located nearby. In recent years there have been some problems with the lake due to overfishing and pollution. The government is taking measures to curb the problems.

As a freshwater lake, this one is regarded as one of the safest points where you will not get into any kind of health issues. The best part of the lake is that it allows the people of the surroundings to take water as the quality is highly regarded. It is a place recommended to families as the interaction with the others is not frequent. The lake had in past some water-related problems which caused health troubles. After such an incident, the water was tested and it was cleared from the issues. However, after this incident, the water quality is being monitored closely.

Point Pelee National Park

It is the most visited picnic point which is located near Lake Erie. It is the southernmost part of the Canada mainland and is known for its natural peninsula. The best part of the national park is the calm and quietness which it offers to its visitors. The climate, however, might not suit many as it is very humid and therefore highly dense. There is also a shuttle service which makes sure that the visitors take a look at the remote parts of the area. The boardwalk is another important aspect of this place.
