Construction is well on its way at the new location of the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centre in Wallaceburg.

Officials with the health centre say the new location should be open to the public before the end of July.

Tracy Lily, the office manager of the Wallaceburg office for the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres, says they are really looking forward to moving in.

“It’s close to completion, we’re very pleased with how quickly the contractors have moved,” said Lily, “We plan on moving in between July 13th and the 17th and then opening up on July 18th.”

Lily says they are also looking to expand their access and they are hoping to provide a number of the chronic disease programs to the community.

But the speedy move isn’t the only thing people are talking about.

“The community is quite impressed with the look of the building,” said Lily, “It’s quite an improvement from the old Giant Tiger eye-sore.”

It certainly looks good. Makes a great improvement in the downtown core. I might have to get sick so I can go over and see everybody.

I think it is sad that you think that Mar, and it is not my place to comment on your experience, although often I find it is a case of “as you give, so shall you receive”. It is a great pity that privacy laws mean that they cannot respond to public criticism.

We have been clients of the CKCHC for 18 months. We went there because to see our family doctor involved a wait of over 3 months. Now we can make an appointment and be seen with no wait. We have always received the utmost courtesy from everyone, the reception staff and the health professionals. We have received referrals to specialists as required. When my wife and I make an appointment we know that the NP we are going to see has blocked off an hour for our visit. She will ask lots of pertinent questions, and listen to all our concerns.

I have the highest praise for them, and recommend their service to anyone who does not have a family doctor.
