A racetrack that made a huge impact on the local community for many years was recognized at the Wallaceburg Museum today (June 8).

Saint’s Park Racetrack held its final race in 1944, but the legends continue to live on.

Stan Williams participated in that final race and he was able to make it to the event this afternoon.

His son, Mark Williams brought him to Wallaceburg and says this induction was a great moment for both him and his father.

“Like all sons, to have my father honoured like this today… absolutely warms my heart to see him be acknowledged in this way,” said Williams.

Tommy Turner donated a picture to commemorate the racetrack.

That picture can now be seen at the Wallaceburg Museum.

And the celebration of Saint’s Park Racetrack will continue this weekend.

On Sunday (June 10), there will be a special ceremony between races at the Dresden Race track with Stan Williams making another appearance.
