Chatham-Kent Looking to “Welcome Home” Young Adults
The 1st Annual “Welcome Home Chatham-Kent” event is aiming to show young adults in the area why they should call C-K home.
The initiative, organized by the United Way of Chatham-Kent, will be showcasing some of the organizations and activities that C-K has to offer to young adults aged 18-35.
And they have a lot planned for the weekend.
It all kicks off tonight with registration from 6:30PM – 7:30PM followed by “Networking,” a fashion show, and live local entertainment.
But Caress Lee, the Youth Leadership Coordinator at the Chatham-Kent United Way, says this isn’t just for people who are new to the area.
“Even if you have lived here your whole life, this weekend is about showcasing and highlighting some of the hidden gems that we have here,” said Lee.
Lee went on to say that the weekend’s focus will be on showing people what opportunities are available so that people can think about how they want to participate.
“Before we ask people to get involved in not-for-profits, and before we ask people to get involved in their community, they have to see what their community is made up of,” said Lee.
The cost is $50/person for a 2-day pass, but entry to only the dance and local entertainment can also be purchased separately for $10/person.
