The 10th annual Retro Fest is coming to downtown Chatham this weekend.

Voted as one of the Top 100 festivals in the province last year, the event attracts thousands to the downtown core with the myriad of events they have planned.

Lorrie Gore, Executive Director for the Historic Chatham BIA , says they are thrilled to be celebrating the milestone 10-year mark.

“We’ve planned something that we hope will be bigger and better than ever,” she said. “Once you get a festival going it is difficult to keep it going and reinvent it. But there is something about nostalgia and the 50s and 60s era that drives people and makes people want to come out.”

Gore added this year’s event has more people pre-registered than ever for Saturday’s car show – as 300 cars are already signed up.

“That’s more than double any other year,” he said.

Gore the car show is routinely packed on the Saturday.

But the event kick starts with the car cruise on Friday evening, plus an assortment of other activities.

She says the car show has a new feature this year.

“This year we’ve added a vintage and classic motorcycle collection,” Gore said. “I’m a little excited. I don’t know what a 1912 Harley Davidson Silent Grey is right now… but by the end of the end of the weekend I plan to.”

I would also love to see an annual Eco Fest hosted in CK as not everyone is a huge fan of heavy metal on rubber.
