Big Bike season kicks off today (May 22) in Chatham.

The big bike will be rolling through the streets from 2-8 today near Retro Suites, kicking off a two-week long blitz across the Municipality.

Natasha Krawczyk, Area Manager for the Chatham-Kent Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation says Big Bike is one of their best fundraisers.

“It raised $175,00 last year for this community, so it’s a huge fundraiser, one of our biggest,” she said. “All the money goes towards research, advocacy and health promotion in the community.”

Not only is the even a good money maker, it’s a good time as well.

“It’s really our event that puts the fun in fundraising,” Krawczyk said. “It’s lot so of fun. You get together with a bunch of co-workers, or friends. It’s only a half hour that we ask you to ride the bike around town, so it;s not a huge time commitment, but it’s lots of fun.”

The Big Bike rolls all across Chatham-Kent, including stops in Wallaceburg May 30 and in Dresden the following day, where the annual challenge takes place – various teams will be competing for the best time around the Dresden Raceway track.
