Kingston Park in Chatham has been recognized by Parks and Recreation Ontario.

The recently completed project in Chatham gathered an Excellence in Design Award from the group.

The awards recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that have enhanced the quality of life in communities across Ontario by advancing the values and benefits of parks, recreation and sport.

The awards will be presented at the 2012 Parks and Recreation Educational Forum and Trade Show on March 28 at the Sheraton on the Falls, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

“This year’s recipients have shown dedication, leadership and innovation,” says PRO President Liz Weaver. “We are delighted to be able to honour these people and organizations at a provincial level for the contributions they make in their communities. Parks and recreation services bring vibrancy to towns and cities and I applaud our award winners for making a real difference in the quality of life for Ontarians.”

The awards ceremony took place today March 28 at 10:30 am, with 350 delegates and special guests in attendance. Liz Weaver adds, “The Forum is an opportunity for those with an interest in recreation, parks, public health and community development to come together, learn and share experiences. Therefore, it is the perfect opportunity to recognize the achievements of these provincial award winners.”
