Chatham, February 17, 2012 – 88% of Cogeco subscribers in Chatham say that TVCOGECO provides a valuable service to the community.

This was one of the findings in a November 2011 telephone survey by Environics Research Group, a leading public opinion and international market research firm.

Environics also reports that an overwhelming number of respondents (96%) are satisfied with Chatham Maroons Hockey coverage which is the most watched program on TVCOGECO in Chatham and that seven in ten viewers (73%) are aware of local volunteers’ involvement in the creation of many of the programs.

TVCOGECO Manager, Peter Martin, is pleased with the results. “The survey results show that Chatham-Kent viewers are interested in what’s going on close to home. Of course we couldn’t do local programming without the support and participation of our many volunteer community producers and crew and this is a strong indication that their contributions are appreciated by the community.”

I would invite all Cogeco subscribers to visit their office on Richmond Street in person and tell their nonexistent receptionist just how much you appreciate their strong local presence. Or maybe mention it to their nonexistent cameramen covering C-K Council meetings. It is a sad day when a corporation with virtually no local presence or payroll sees fit to boast about their contributions to our local community. Shameful.

True – Cogeco do not have a receptionist or a large payroll.
They do however have a very existent cameraman who covers CK Council meetings.
With a tiny staff and a team of regular and occasional volunteers they cover a wide range of local activities including many events put on by local charities.
They have a free community calendar on which anyone can list information.
They also hire and train students during the summer months giving them valuable training for possible future positions.

Yes, it would be good if they had more funding and more staff but they seem to be doing a very good job with what is available – and the survey seems to show many people value their contribution to Chatham-Kent.

I agree with you South Kent Voter that they pretty much suck for having good presence in the community. Big woopie you televise hockey games and council meetings… as far as not having a reception that stinks too.. Not like they are a poor company… they could have SOME staff at their joke of an office..
I’m sure they do good things in Windsor where they have an office that is staffed. As far as Chatham Kent.. I don’t think so as much.. Sorry if some don’t agree.. Of course your not going to publish those that disapprove of the service or presence. How many people did they ask in the survey like 10 people?

    Regards
