Your Library: A Place Unbound
Check out what’s happening during Ontario Public Library Week when Chatham-Kent Public Library will be celebrating Your Library: A Place Unbound. Beginning October 16th, CKPL invites everyone to join us for a week filled with events and programs that will spur the imagination of children and adults alike.

Ontario Public Library Week began in 1985 and has become the annual focus for promoting and recognizing public library service in the province. Libraries have undergone many changes, but one thing hasn’t changed: a strong library system is still the cornerstone of a strong community. Libraries play an important role in education, literacy, life-long learning and leisure opportunities. Now, virtually every library, including all branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library, provides access to electronic information through the Internet. CKPL – both within the walls and without – is truly a place unbound.
All eleven CKPL locations will be hosting special programs and events to celebrate Ontario Public Library Week. The Rotary Club of Chatham has sponsored a system-wide contest giving patrons a chance to win one of three great prizes; an iPad, Sony e-reader, or an MP3 player. Visit your local branch for more details.
Other activities include a showing of The Prosecutor, a National Film Board Club selection, October 18th in Chatham and October 20th in Ridgetown. Healthy Eating workshops with Lyndsay Davidson will be held in Chatham on October 20th and Wallaceburg on October 27th. Also, Wallaceburg is hosting a MAD SCIENCE children’s program on October 21st. Tilbury will be presenting an ‘Intro to Yoga’ children’s program and Blenheim will offer storytime programs on October 18th and 20th. Merlin will hold a Used Book Sale throughout the week and Thamesville is holding daily Library Trivia Draws.
