“Gentlemen: You are already aware of the number of individuals/ families that are served by Operation Cover Up each year. The Maroons have supported this worthy program for a number of years.
We would really appreciate it if you could help us with this endeavour. Donations of new or gently used WINTER Coats are being accepted at the participating cleaners and locations until September 30th.
We feel our “Chatham Maroons-Operation Cover Up Night” is another way of drawing people’s attention to the ongoing need for winter coats, especially children’s coats.
“Hockey Fans everywhere dress warmly when they attend a game to cheer on their Home Team. Most Fans travel in a warm vehicle to and from the arena. How can we turn a blind eye to the fact that there are those less fortunate in Chatham-Kent that can’t afford a warm winter coat for themselves or their children? ”
The Chatham Maroons would like to encourage their fans to bring their gently used Winter Coats to the game , Sunday, September 25th vs London at Memorial Arena. Game time is 7 pm. Volunteers will be on hand to collect the coats in the Main Lobby.
Children’s coats are especially needed! Maroons Fans are reminded to please wash, washable coats first. Donations of coats can also be made at the following cleaners in Chatham: Community Cleaners, Bondy’s Cleaners, Betty Brite, Chatham Cleaners and Winners until September 30th. There are also drop off locations in Tilbury, Wallaceburg, Blenheim, Ridgetown and Dresden.
Distribution of the coats takes place Monday October 11 through Friday, October 14th at St. Andrew’s United Church, 85 Williams St. South, Chatham.
