An estimated 3,500 people packed Crothers Conservation Area in Wallaceburg Saturday for the Kraft Celebration Tour before a thunderstorm sent many visitors running for cover.
The events Friday and Saturday, were considered a huge success with Wallaceburg winning praise from both Kraft and TSN representatives. While in town, TSN anchors Darren Dutchyshen and Kate Beirness took part in a number of events including cruising the town in antique cars and boats, eating a Large Marge burger at Big Chief Drive In, and playing a game of lacrosse with local players and the Toronto Rock.
As well, local businesses reported a boost over the weekend with additional people staying and dining in Wallaceburg. The local Salvation Army also saw the benefits of the Kraft Celebration Tour receiving supplies from the event, however, local food banks are still in need. Beirnessa and Dutchyshen held an autograph session at a Salvation Army Food Bank BBQ Friday afternoon at Victor’s No Frills in Wallaceburg.
As additional highlights of the night, Wallaceburg received their $25,000 check to begin renovations on an outdoor lacrosse and sporting facility. Wallaceburg also donated $5,000 back to Trenton to assist with their track project (more on this to follow).
