Chatham native, and recently signed New York Rangers goalie Jason Missiaen, will be offering his knowledge to young netminders attending the third annual Blenheim Hockey School Aug. 22 to Aug. 26.
Missiaen, who played Junior ‘C’ with Dresden Kings for two seasons, followed by four years with Peterborourgh Petes of the OHL and one with Baie-Comeau of the QHL, recently signed as a free agent with the Rangers.
The six-foot eight puck-stopper was a fourth round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2008.
Openings remain in the Peewee/Bantam and goalie divisions with the Peewee/Bantams on the ice from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each day and the goalies from 2:30 to 3:30.
There is an Atom/Novice division at 3:30 but new registrations will currently go on a waiting list should some players drop out for one reason or another.
The cost for each of the divisions is $130. Players who can only make some of the days will pay an adjusted price.
Goalies who participate in the goalie division will be allowed to stay and take part in the other sessions if they so wish at no extra charge, while goalies who are not part of the goalie division will pay $130 for either the Atom-Novice or Peewee-Bantam sessions.
Instructors, besides Missiaen, will include Blenheim Minor Hockey Association president Ronny Van Heesch, Blenheim Blades goalie coach Pete Knights, former Blades coaches Dan Oliphant, Brent Rumble and Scott Bacik, and current and past members of the Blades.
Parents wishing to register their children can contact Bill Saunders at 519-676-7603 or at email@example.com for more information. Cheques can be made out to the Blenheim Blades Hockey Club and sent to Blenheim Blades Hockey Club, P.O. Box 1775, Blenheim, Ontario, N0P 1A0.
