Union Gas Receives Prestigious Canadian Cancer Society Award

Chatham – The Canadian Cancer Society Chatham-Kent Unit was honoured to present Union Gas with the Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division Corporate Partner Award today at the company’s annual “Buzz Off Cancer” event.

“The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in a corporate partner,” said Cindy Vinall, Manager of the Chatham-Kent Unit.  “Union Gas supports its employees in their efforts to raise funds for cancer research and the Society’s programs and services.”

“One of the important ways we demonstrate our commitment to be a Partner of Choice is by empowering employees to be active members in their communities and by matching employee donations to the causes that they’re passionate about,” said Julie Dill, President of Union Gas. “We’re so pleased to be recognized by the Canadian Cancer Society and  I am proud to stand along side our employees in support of this important cause.”

Each year since 2008, employees of Union Gas have volunteered to have their hair “buzzed” if the fundraising goal is met.  Since that first campaign, BUZZ Off Cancer has raised more than $190,000 in support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s mission to eradicate cancer and to enhance of the quality of life for people living with cancer.

Union Gas’ many endeavours have made a positive impact on the needs of our community, added Vinall.  The Corporate Partner award recognizes the efforts of Union Gas employees in contributing to the goals and mission of the Canadian Cancer Society.
