
On the 24th of July 2010, at 5:22 pm, the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit was called to Lake St Clair for a boater that was in distress near Lighthouse Cove.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Dresden, Ontario man setout in a small vessel with two friends and five children on Lake St Clair. They had stopped the boat and the children went in the Lake for a swim. One of the children appeared to be in distress and the Dresden man jumped in the water without a life jacket. He struggled and went underneath, with the children making it safely back in the boat. The boaters called for help over their marine radio. The first vessel arrived within ten minutes.
A joint effort between the Rescue Coordination Centre, OPP Marine Units and US Coast Guard is currently underway. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will be attending the scene on the 25th of July, 2010.
On the 25th of July 2010, at 3:27 pm, the body of a 37 year old, Dresden, Ontario man was recovered by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit in Lake St Clair.
Post mortem examination has revealed that no foul play is suspected in the death investigation of Aaron Wallace a 37 year old Dresden, Ontario man.
