On Saturday, May 8, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Chatham-Kent Police participated in the 7th Annual Cops for Cancer head shaving event at the Downtown Chatham Centre.

Constable Derek Shaw said the participants raised over $8,500.00.

“This could not have been done without the support of the people of Chatham-Kent,” Shaw said.

Shaw said he would like to thank the following:

  • The Downtown Chatham Centre for providing a venue to host the event
  • Kelley Sheeler, Danielle Huckle, Karen Malott, and Brandie Wells who volunteered to shave heads
  • Participants who raised money and shaved their heads: Constable Amy Finn, Constable Mark Vandergriendt, Constable Mike Currie, Constable Rich Kwon, Police Chaplain Paul McPhail, Police Chaplain Tim Joyce, Fire Fighter Brent Case, along with citizens Brian Case, Cathy Christner, L.B. Moore, and McKenna McArthur.
  • Gary Patterson of 99.1 CKXS FM in Wallaceburg for volunteering his time to announce the event
