It is not the first time that competitive dancers at All That Jazz Dance Co. have received a gold award at competition, but it is the first time that an adult team has represented the local dance studio.
On Saturday April 24, 2010, members of the ATJ Adult Competitive Team made their way to London, Ontario, where they performed before a panel of judges in the Dance Canada Competition. Members of the team are all over the age of 20 years and are involved in the Intermediate and Advanced Adult Jazz/Hip Hop classes at All That Jazz Dance Co.
As first-time competitors, teammates were uncertain what to expect, and were thrilled to learn that they had received a Special Award from judges for ‘Never Quit Dancing.’
“You ladies are an inspiration. You show that you never have to stop dancing!” said one of the judges. The Adult Competitive Team received a Gold for their performance of ‘Good Girls Gone Bad,’ and are in preparation for a competition taking place this coming weekend (Friday April 30 @ 9:30 pm) held at UCC The Pines Theatre.
All That Jazz Dance Co.’s competitive and performance teams, adults and b-boys entered 40 routines into a field of 578 routines from 13 different dance studios across southwestern ontario at the Dance Canada Competition in London this past weekend. Many dancers were competing for the first time. From the 40 routines entered, All That Jazz took home 21 golds (receiving marks of 90-92.99%) and 19 High Silvers (85-89.99%) and 3 special awards including the adult award as well as praise for team performance abilities.
