After losing Game 3 on home ice last Wednesday, the Wallaceburg Lakers got back to their winning ways on Monday night, March 8, in Dresden.
The Lakers took control on the game early, with three goals in the third period, en-route to a 6-1 thumping of the Kings.
Blaine Hopkins, Dustin Cope and Wayd Pitfiled scored in the first period for the Lakers, Rob Pollack added a goal in the second, and Pitfield and Norm Leger found the back of the net in the third period.
Dresden’s Scott Gawne scored the Kings goal in the first period.
Wallaceburg goalie Matt Berglund made 31 saves for the win, while Dresden goalie Eric Steinman stopped 39 of 45 shots in defeat.
The Lakers now have a commanding 3-1 series lead in the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League North Division Final – and can wrap up the series on Wednesday night (March 10) on home ice at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, the Belle River Canadiens hold a commanding 3-0 lead over the five-time defending champion Essex 73s.
The Canadiens will look for the sweep tonight (March 9) when they travel to Essex.
