The Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce is looking to take Earth Day, to a whole other level.
“With funding from Community Futures, I have currently been hired at the Wallaceburg District Chamber of Commerce, as a youth intern,” said Wallaceburg resident Tammy Howlett. “One of my goals within my two month contract, is to develop an Earth Day project. My intention is to celebrate Earth Week, not just the day, and fill it with a wide range of activities.”
She said her intention is to collaboratively clean up our downtown, but would love to have education seminars, environmental films, drumming circles and most importantly creation projects of all kinds.
Some ideas:
“I am looking for any level of involvement from community members ranging from volunteers, to idea givers or just to pass this on to someone whom you think may like to get involved,” she said. “Part of Earth Week is realizing that we are all one, with each other and with Mother Nature and that together we must help revive her.”
Earth Day is Thursday, April 22 this year.
