On Saturday (Dec. 19) shortly before 2 p.m. officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Hill Road in Ridgetown.
Chatham-Kent police said officers arrived to discover a ’98 red Ford pick up truck on its roof in a field with damage estimated at $5,000.
Police said the driver was being treated for minor injuries and it was determined that the 59-year old man had been drinking.
The man was arrested and provided breath samples for analysis, which resulted in a reading of more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
Subsequent to his arrest a canister of tear gas was seized.
As a result of this investigation the Orford Township man will face criminal charges of impaired driving and possession of a prohibited weapon.

That’s 13 articles on ckdp about drunk drivers since August and that’s just those that were caught. I wonder just how many drunks there really are driving around on the Chatham-Kent roads.
Maybe ckdp should start publishing their names after they’ve been charged. When charges don’t work and MADD doesn’t work, maybe embarrassment will make a difference. Maybe when we start to see lists of these hapless drunks and their victims, their family members will start taking away their car keys.
