Given the crowds that are expected to show up on Tuesday, December 22 for C-K Celebrates the Torch, the official arrival celebration for the Olympic Torch Relay, parking and shuttle bus arrangements have been made so that citizens can get to the celebration and enjoy it.
The free C-K Celebrates the Torch celebration will be held at Chatham’s Kinsmen Auditorium and Memorial Arena, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
There will be skates all afternoon, musical performances, dance troupes, gymnastics and martial arts demos. Families can enjoy a Kids Zone with games, crafts and inflatable bouncers,Wii sports, magicians and face painters and pony rides. The official Cauldron Lighting Ceremony will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and fireworks will end the evening.
Parking
There will not be any public parking permitted on the celebration site. Parking lots have been provided at
- Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Avenue
- St. Ursula School, 426 Lacroix Street
- Victor Lauriston School, 44 Alexandra Avenue
- John McGregor Secondary School, 300 Cecile Avenue
- Georges P. Vanier School, 20 Cecile Avenue
Shuttle Buses
Two shuttle buses will make round trips every hour to the Kinsmen Auditorium and Memorial Arena. One bus will travel from St. Clair College to the celebration site starting at 2 p.m. while the other travels from JohnMcGregor Secondary School, also starting at 2 p.m.
The last bus will leave the celebration site at 9:30 p.m.
It is recommended that people with strollers or mobility restrictions should use the shuttles. There will also be an accessible drop off zone in front of the Memorial Arena for people in wheelchairs or with similar needs.

Has there been consideration for shuttle fro the disabled to attend this event?
If the general public is given free shuttle service then the handitrans fees a disable person incurs should be covered by the City as well.
