Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden held its second annual Lady Cardinal Alumni Basketball Game in support of breast cancer research on Thanksgiving weekend.
The senior girls team played two games with all the proceeds going towards breast cancer research. The first game was against the teachers and the entire student body purchased tickets to attend this game. The second game was the Lady Alumni versus the Senior Girls team.
This game was open to the public and a donation was accepted at the door.
The Lady Cardinals chose to donate the proceeds to breast cancer because they just want to help find a cure.
At the two games, the Cards collected a combined donation of $1,104 for breast cancer research.
Terry Fox Run – Sept. 2009
The Student Athletic Association at LKCS recently made a cheque presentation to the Canadian Cancer Society with funds raised at the annual Terry fox Run held this past Septmeber.
This year the goal was to increase the overall participation of students in the Run.
LKCS students were challenged to raise at least a dollar per student because that was Terry Fox’s initial goal of Canada when he started his run. With a population of slightly higher than 400 students, the students surpassed this goal of 400 dollars and raised a total of $1065.00.
The Student Athletic Association is extremely grateful and proud of the dedication of their peers.
