One person is dead following a tractor-trailer collision on 401 near Tilbury

Last night (Dec. 6) at around 8:10 p.m. Essex County OPP responded to a tractor trailer collision westbound on Highway 401, approximately 50 metres from County Rd 42 exit.

Police said that a westbound tractor trailer was rear ended by another tractor trailer, causing a fatal collision.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator attended the scene to collect evidence.

The investigation is on going, and the name of the deceased will not be released till next of kin is notified.

All westbound lanes of the 401 were closed for several hours, but has since be re-opened.

Further information will be released pending the investigation.
