One step re-employment strategies
Balance Point by Sally Joyce
If you are one of the many individuals experiencing an employment life shift because of the ever-changing economic climate around us, you may want to consider some of the following ideas.
Remember the old saying “If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got”? Well the time is here to really think about this idea and take it to heart. As the world changes it is time for us to change too.
So how do we go about changing? What needs changing? Where do we begin? Sometimes we can get ourselves into a spin with all of these questions, and sometimes we let ourselves stay paralyzed in fear, refusing to allow these questions to lead us forward.
To help stay centered and balanced in times of great change it is important to breathe deeply and carry the intent of being a willing and positive part of that change. We call breath inspiration for good reason. With each breath that we take in we are bringing in oxygen to transport nutrients and vitality throughout our body so that it can perform at its best.
We are also bringing in energy of the environment in which we live, and this energy communicates to us, keeping us informed of all happenings in our midst. If we allow our inner wisdom to hear this information, it can assist us to be prepared for opportunities and challenges that are coming our way.
If you are feeling stuck and unable to shift into new ways of thinking or new lifestyles that will assist your employability, you may want to try to get unstuck by doing something that you have never done before.
Walk down a street that you have never walked down before. Listen to a genre of music that you have never listened to before. Think some thoughts that you have never allowed yourself to think before. Perhaps you could shift your perspective from an unemployed person to a person seeking the opportunity to find a new and better form of employment. Have fun with it all, pretend that you are a kid again and just play.
Play a little game, one in which you answer yes to some things that you have only answered no to before, and imagine the outcome of those new possibilities. This is definitely a time to stretch and challenge yourself a little, and watch how one little stretch leads to another and another, and before you know it you have a new life unfolding in front of you.
Another way to help you get flowing is to sit by a river, creek or stream that flows gently and just watch it and listen to it. Sit for a few hours if you can. Let the flowing water teach you, and the water within you (remember we are 70% water) how to flow easily and effortlessly.
While you are sitting by the moving water you can hold the inside of each knee with your finger tips, By doing this you are activating Safety Energy Lock #1′s, the Prime Movers of Jin Shin Jyutsu®. Hold these for 20 minutes each day and your life will definitely change and move you along on your personal path.
Many of us believe erroneously that there is a finite limit to our personal resources. We are taught this because it conveniently fits with our current profit based systems. To expand our understanding beyond this limited way of thinking we can keep our Safety Energy Lock #10′s, the Warehouses of Abundance, open and flowing by crossing our arms and holding the back of our mid upper arms.
Try holding these for 20 minutes a day, and observe how you begin to become aware of new ways of gathering, sharing and creating resources.
Many people that I speak with seem to believe that they are incapable of changing in positive ways and that they are insufficiently talented to succeed. As a lifelong learner and a teacher I want to tell them that if they are basing their opinion of themselves on elementary or high school experiences, they need to update their opinion and understand that adult training programs are specifically designed for today’s adults, and they are designed for adults to succeed.
Let go of the past and its failures and give yourself a chance to discover that you might even enjoy learning new skills.
Remember what the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” So breathe deeply, and take that one step by trying something new. What have you got to lose except the possibility of remaining a victim of these challenging times?
Feng Shui Tip of the Week
The South-East sector of your home is the wealth sector related to the element wood. Power up this sector of your home by feeding the wood with the water element. Place a small fountain or other water feature here and ensure that the water appears to be flowing into your home, not away from it.
If this is not possible consider placing a picture of flowing water with a collection pool at its base or hanging a painting or sculpture depicting beautiful golden fish. Symbols of prosperity are also appropriate here. Chinese coins, gold ingots, Buddha sitting on a pile of gold coins and money frogs are all popular Feng Shui symbols for wealth. Consider painting the walls brown or green in this area as this also adds to the auspicious energy here.
