The Chatham-Kent Police Service is seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect involved in a theft from gas at the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police said on Friday (July 17), a man attended the gas bar and pumped over $42 of gas into a vehicle. He left without paying for the fuel. It is believed that this is the third time this suspect has stolen gas from this location, police said.

Police said the suspect is described as a male, 20-30 years old, approximately 6’2″ tall with a thin build and short dark hair. He was wearing an orange t-shirt with the sleeves cut off, dark shorts, and dark sandals. The vehicle is a silver minivan (possibly a Dodge Caravan) with a factory roof rack. There is a noticeable dent on the rear hatch door, and the front driver’s side hub cap is missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Jason Williams at 519-436-6600 extension 87224. Anonymous tips can be made to Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
